Castor Oil Can Generate N25bn Annually For Nigeria – Agric Ministry

The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr Ernest Umakhihe, has said that castor oil has the potential of generating about N25 billion annually for Nigeria if properly harnessed.

Umakhihe who was represented by a Deputy Director in the Ministry, Mr Bernard Ukattah made the disclosure on Wednesday at a one-day stakeholders’ summit on castor oil in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

He said the oil could also provide a livelihood for between 300,000 to 500,000 families, but the potentials have not been harnessed, hence, the reason for the Summit.
